Game Principles and Core Tenets
  1. Never stifle energy, simply redirect it: healthy channel for obsessive, addiction-prone, intense people; Be proud of who you are, just find a way to not implode with your potentially misdirected energy.
    1. “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes, the ones who see things differently” – Steve Jobs
  2. Functional Integration: to live a full, integrated, balanced life that maxes out all areas of life: health, wealth, wisdom, relationships, etc.
  3. Pareto Optimality: it’s better to be an 8 or 9 in every area of life instead of a 10 in just one with a nosedive for the rest.
  4. Pareto Principle: the 80/20 Rule
  5. Model Success: based on the best-in-class, most reputable resources or expert authorities on a given domain whereby they have personally achieved the desired result.
  6. Stay stubborn to the aim, and flexible on the path: there is always a better way. Function precedes form.
  7. Bias for objective standards: measurable, quantifiable success criteria.
  8. You are bigger than your challenges and obstacles.
  9. Gamification > Habit Building: have you ever needed to build a habit / force yourself to play a game for hours on end?
Game Product Development Roadmap (“Open Source Code” to Building This Out for Maximal Engagement)
  1. Share button to share Level Ups and new achievements.
  2. Interactive component to submit proof of Level Up/New Skill that provides real-time in-game rewards and positive reinforcement.
  3. Quests for each level and skill (the step-by-step “how to” to achieve each one) allowing for partial progress and milestones toward unlocking new skills and levels.
  4. Social accountability and leaderboards for healthy competition/increased motivation.
  5. Customization and adaptation of levels and skills based on one’s specific goals in each area of life, though mindfully balanced with the finite “always this, never that” aspect of what makes games universally fair and applicable to all.
  6. Equipment and Armor component.

On Humor (A Poem on Navigating Life’s Humorous Landscape with a Dash of Rhyme and Wit)

I could not live another day,
Without having humor in my way,
To traverse life without a hearty laugh,
Is like a world devoid of the giraffe,
As it would be odd but assuredly suck,
Just contemplating it might make you say, “Yuck!”

But let’s get down to business,
Can you stand to bear witness?
Me, thinking I’m this fantastical poet,
But go ahead, just wait for me to blow it.

Whenever I get too high on myself,
I pray to God please knock me back down,
And without fail he answers,
And that’s the solace I take in this world.
That’s not funny nor does it rhyme.
But we still out here trying all the time!

Whenever I encounter one without humor,
I think, “You might as well be a tumor!”
Hark! What’s that sound?
Ah, yes, the deafening boom,
Of you draining the fun from the room.

Anyway, enough show and tell for today,
It’s time for me to slip away,
For there are people out there in need of my help,
But between you and me, I’ll just say, “Welp!”

On Serendipity and The Futility of Plans (A Poem on Embracing Life’s Unexpected Turns)

I never thought I’d see the day,
That I could honestly say,
The richest chapters of my life that came into play,
Unfolded through serendipity’s gentle sway.

Plan as you might,
Plan as you will,
But it matters not,
As you’re in for quite the thrill.

But don’t take it from me,
As Thomas Rhett will tell thee,
You never know what’s gonna happen,
You make your plans and you hear God laughin’.

Oh, how mad I would be,
When I felt God cast my hopes and dreams out to sea,
Thinking surely he must be giggling with sick glee,
Only to find he was simply waiting for me to see.

Every transformational move I’ve made,
Every person who’s been of greatest aid,
Every time I felt most dismayed,
Ended up being an unforeseen life upgrade.

So I leave you with this,
If you feel your life’s running amiss,
And you’re truly in the abyss,
Hold tight for your synchronistic assist.

On the Precious Shortness of Life (The Final Gate: A Poem of Aspiration and Legacy)

Home for the Holidays,
Another year gone by, 365 days,
If only I had better ways,
To express I’d give anything to make sure my family stays.

I oft ponder what will be my fate,
The truth is I want to be so great,
I just hope I won’t be too late,
Before I reach the final gate.

And once I get there, what will they say?
Will it be, ‘Wow, what a positive impact he left on display’?
Or will it disappoint and sound a bit more gray,
Either way, before it’s my turn to forever go away,
I must press on and forge a new today.

Every day I look in the mirror,
I remind myself I must steer clear,
Of anything that robs me of my cheer,
For you never truly know when the end is near.

Poem: Darkness of Today (War in Ukraine, COVID-19, Hollywood Elite & Opioid Crisis)

Oh dear, the war in Ukraine,
All but one of today’s bane,
Lord, please stop the incessant rain,
Of all these sources of great stress and disdain.

Oh dear, COVID-19,
Do I really need a vaccine,
I wish the world was a bit more clean,
To be free and clear of such a harmful scheme.

Oh dear, the Hollywood elite,
What do they want besides our children’s meat,
So Godspeed, Tim Ballard,
Thank god for your tremendous valor.

Oh dear, the opioid crisis,
Just when you thought they were at bay,
They made a Fentanyl spray,
So let’s band together and pray,
For those still addicted and suffering today.

Oh dear, there’s yet still more,
For these are merely some of today’s gore,
So my message is to implore,
For us all to unite once more.

Poem: What They Say

Sometimes I’m mad,
Sometimes I’m sad,
Sometimes I’m glad,
But mostly, I just feel I’ve been had.

They say press on,
They say you’re doing great,
They say you might even be a rockstar,
But in truth, I feel too late.

They say keep going, you’re almost there,
But it begs the question, where?

The pain is too much to bear,
It hurts so much, but I need to share,
For silence deafens, and leaves me askew,
Alas, I’m ready for something new.

It’s been a while since I’ve written,
My true thoughts have been hidden,
But I’m ready to open up my heart,
And I pray you deem this a worthy start.
